Welcome to the home page of the North Europe Young Diabetologists (NEYD) meeting

 What is NEYD?

NEYD is a fantastic, meeting that provides an opportunity for young diabetes researchers (like yourself!) to present their research (including research in progress) to peers from other North European countries. You can submit your abstract here. This year the meeting is going to be held near Amsterdam in Holland. Thanks to sponsorship from Boeringher-Ingelheim it is FREE for UK attendees.

ABC of D&E course open for registration!   *closing soon*

Following requests by our members and suggestions to start a specific course for newly starting registrars, we are please to announce the ABC of D&E course is open for registration.

Date: 28th and 29th June 2018

Where: Birmingham Hilton Meteropole NEC, B40 1PP

This course is open to ST3 and ST4 trainees and includes one night's accommodation, lunch on both days and an evening meal on the first night.

3rd National Undergraduate Conference

Edinburgh University's Endocrinology Society is proud to present their 3rd National Undergraduate Conference 2018

The Endocrinology of Sex and Gender in Medicine. 

This is an opportunity to get your medical students interested in the specialty and get more experience as well as present any abstracts. Please encourage your students to apply!

This fascinating conference will take place on the 17th February 2018 in the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh, and will cover a spectacular range of topics including: 

- Fertility preservation
Transgender patient experiences regarding the choice hormone therapy.
- The effects of military training on the female endocrine system. 
LGBTQ+ issues in paediatrics
- Workshops on female and male fertility.  
 

There is also the opportunity to present your own poster and an oral presentation will be offered to the best abstracts. Abstracts are welcome from any area of research related to endocrinology, diabetes, hormones, sex or gender.

UEMS European Exchange in Endocrinology Expertise ‘EEE Grants’

The European Union of Medical Specialists (Union Européenne des Médecins Spécialistes – UEMS), a non-governmental organisation representing national associations of medical specialists in the European Union, are offering trainees in adult Endocrinology an exchange programme within Europe. If selected, a trainee can spend 2-6 months training in a centre of excellence in Europe. This includes working with some imminent doctors in major centres in Dublin for endocrinology, diabetes and metabolism, for example Mark Sherlock in Tallaght hospital, Donald O'Shea in St Vincent's University Hospital and Chris Thompson in Beaumont Hospital.

ABCD meeting for SpRs

ABCD Meeting for SpR’s

When: 10th & 11th November 2017

Where: Holiday Inn Bloomsbury, London

The meeting will start on the evening of Friday 10th and runs until lunchtime on Saturday 11th November, following on from the ABCD Autumn Meeting (to which SpR’s are invited). The number of delegates is limited to 25 and places will be allocated on a first come first served basis. The meeting is only open to members of ABCD, and membership applications will be accepted at registration. Dinner and accommodation at the hotel are provided if required.

This will again consist of “Meet the Expert” sessions where topical areas in diabetes and endocrinology can be discussed in a small group format. In addition research and case presentations are invited and the best four will be selected for presentation. The ABCD SpR Training Award will be given to the best of these presentations. This award of £1000 will go towards attendance at an international meeting.

ABCD-YDEF-Consultant Development Programme

ABCD Consultant Development Programmes is designed to reinvigorate the learning of the non-clinical aspects of being a consultant. This replaces the YDEF led King's Fund Management Course. It will be held for a week from the 27th November to 1st December 2017 at the Park Regis Birmingham Hotel.

 

Registration is now open.


 

Places are limited to ensure a dynamic and interactive group.

Only ABCD members can be allocated places. Membership fees for ABCD are £75 per year and membership gives you discounted registration for ABCD scientific sessions. Please note: ABCD membership numbers cannot be given instantly and may take a few weeks. If the course is oversubscribed we will give priority to those in their final year of training and those newly appointed consultants.To apply for ABCD membership please click HERE

The cost per head is over £1500. We are able to offer it to ABCD members for £325 including accommodation and meals (you will need to fund your own travel expenses). Payment is by credit or debit card via Paypal  or you can pay by cheque or bank transfer.

A place will only be confirmed once your ABCD membership has been verified. Priority will be given to trainees in their final year of training that submit complete applications and send payment.

Please note that you are expected to attend all sessions on each day of the programme and we cannot accept requests to attend part of the course only.

The course has been developed for ABCD by Prof. Dev Singh, Consultant Physician Diabetes & Endocrinology & Medical Director of The Academic Institute of Medicine, and Mr Keith Whitfield of Ultimate Performance, and ILM training centre.
