ABCD National Diabetes Consultant Mentorship Programme (NDCMP)

The NDCMP is a national initiative providing mentorship for newly-appointed consultants in diabetes and endocrinology. The purpose of the NDCMP is to support the development of consultants in diabetes and endocrinology for the future benefit of themselves and, thereby, our speciality and our patients.

Dundee is one of the leading centres for diabetes research in the UK, with the Diabetes Research Centre consisting of over 20 teams, within the College of Medicine and the College of Life Sciences. http://medicine.dundee.ac.uk/dundee-diabetes-research-centre.    Our research spans from molecular biology, mouse phenotyping, human phenotyping, genetic epidemiology and pharmacogenetics.  Our research interests within the college of medicine focus on: hypoglycaemia; insulin action; diabetes & alzheimers disease; drug response; and genetics of diabetes, complications and drug response.

Type 1 diabetes research opportunity

An exciting research opportunity has arisen at Newcastle University to work at the leading edge of translational research for type 1 diabetes within the clinical islet transplant programme.  There is flexibility in the post with potential for lab-based work and honing skills across the breadth of type 1 diabetes management including insulin pump therapy and transplant management. Applications from early stage trainees to CCT holders are welcome.  Closing date for applications is 6th February 2014.

Clinical Research Fellow, Leicester

There is an exciting opportunity for a Clinical Research Fellow at the University of Leicester in the Diabetes Research Unit led by Profs Melanie Davies and Kamlesh Kunti.

You must be a registered medical practitioner holding a licence to practice and possessing MRCP or equivalent. You will be expected to register for a higher degree and participate in a generic postgraduate training programme.

An appropriate honorary clinical contract will be sought from the University Hospitals of Leicester (UHL) NHS Trust.
